Mihkel Räim professional road racing cyclist from Estonia, currently riding for Israel Cycling Academy. His best results are 1st place in GC Tour of Estonia, 1st place in Great War Remembrance Race and 1st place in stage Colorado Classic.
This year you won the Tour of Estonia, what does it feel like to win at home?
To win at home and in the breakaway was really awesome. Was fun to put the show to local people and all the supporters.
Have you ever been a Estonian national champion twice, is it still a goal to win that title again?
I have been champion two times and I don’t have anymore pressure to win it again because I already proved I could do it. But of course it’s nice to win nationals and I hope I can do it again in the future.
You’ve done a lot of races in Belgium, can you say you’re a classic man?
I have done semi classics and I would like to say I’m classics man, it well see . Still have to learn a lot.
Have you never participated in a GT, which would you like to be present?
I haven’t done any grand tours but for the next year I hope I have the possibility. I think I would like to start with Vuelta.
Have you secured a contract for next season?
Yes I have contract with Israel Cycling Academy till end of 2020.
How do you see the future of cycling in Estonia?
I think Estonian cycling is pretty good at the moment. Seems there are some good juniors but now going for u24 we can really see who have the brain, legs and willingness.
